Made in Nepal - Jewelry - Yak Bone and Necklace - Full Yak Bone Om

"Purchased in Pokhara Nepal from a small shop. Each necklace is unique in it's design and characteristic all it's own.

Size: 17""
Weight: 2 oz

Carefully hand crafted with yak bone beads throughout and a large Om symbol painted pendant. Screw clasp makes it easy to take on and off.

The yak bone necklace is worn to help the body balance its essential energy. Wear the necklace and allow its healing properties to radiate through your body. With an adjustable cotton cord on each of the yak bone necklaces, they make the perfect gift for both men and women.

The yak is a long-haired animal found throughout the Himalayan region of south Central Asia, the Tibetan Plateau and as far north as Mongolia and Russia. All yak bones used in our jewelry are the leftover from the domestic population that died from natural causes. This is a Fair Trade item. Bone is used in practice because the more we contemplate death the more fruitful our life becomes. We begin to live life differently and accept that death is inevitable while the path to the end of this life is about service to others, loving all, and being happy (without the pursuit of happiness) in each moment.. through the supposed good and bad.

While in Pokhara Nepal I noticed a small narrow shop with paper lanterns hanging in abundance. After speaking with the shop owner for a while, he mentioned he needed to sell all of the items in his shop as he was going out of business. His Father had started the shop many years prior and the hotel he was leasing from needed his space. He sold me all of his jewelry and lanterns for a fair price. I was able to help the man and his family out financially and obtain these beautiful pieces.

*These necklaces are NOT waterproof. Keep them away from water and sweat.

A portion of the proceeds continue to support the people and animals of Nepal. From supplying children with school supplies, University tuition for young women, financial support for local businesses, supplies and education for horsemanship in Pokhara, spaying and neutering programs of dogs in villages, and much more.
